The Concertgebouw Orchestra performs the greatest masterpieces from the past and present, led by the most prominent conductors and featuring world-renowned soloists. Our repertoire ranges from early Baroque to the newest contemporary music.
For many years, we have been performing Gustav Mahler, Richard Strauss, and Anton Bruckner to great critical acclaim. Our Passion Tradition is also famous: since 1899, we have performed one of Bach’s two great Passions around Easter. Other long-standing traditions include the Christmas Matinee (broadcast live on TV since 1975) and collaborations with the Dutch National Opera and the Holland Festival.
We have always enjoyed working with living composers and still perform many new commissioned works each season. Composers such as Strauss, Mahler, Debussy, Schönberg, and Stravinsky conducted our orchestra more than once; and in modern times Thomas Adès, George Benjamin, Tan Dun, and Matthias Pintscher regularly stand on our podium.
