We’ll be seeing a lot more of our chief conductor designate Klaus Mäkelä in The Concertgebouw next season, in six engaging programmes that showcase his vast artistic range. Just a few of the high points are Rimsky-Korsakov’s enchanting Sheherazade at our traditional Christmas Matinee, Bruckner’s Eighth Symphony, and Bach’s St Matthew Passion – his first time conducting the traditional Passiontide concert.
We just can’t get enough of Beethoven, and fortunately this season features plenty of music by this revolutionary composer. Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider will play his Violin Concerto. Beatrice Rana will be our soloist in the Third Piano Concerto, and Yefim Bronfman in the Fifth. Semyon Bychkov and Fabio Luisi, respectively, will conduct the Second and Eighth Symphonies.
Attention all piano fans! Six of the world’s finest pianists will be playing concerts with the Concertgebouw Orchestra next season. Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Evgeny Kissin, Yuja Wang, Yunchan Lim, Yefim Bronfman and Beatrice Rana will play piano concertos by Saint-Saëns, Beethoven, Prokofiev and Schumann.
The Concertgebouw Orchestra’s programming next season features some fantastic solo violin and cello concertos. Enjoy the masterful violin concertos by Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Martin, played by world-class soloists such as Frank Peter Zimmermann and Leonidas Kavakos, and discover Martinů’s many-coloured Cello Concerto No. 1 featuring Sol Gabetta.
Do you like orchestral music with vocals? You're at the right address. Choir and soloists come together in grand fashion for Bach’s St Matthew Passion (with Klaus Mäkelä) and Prokofiev’s Alexander Nevsky cantata (under Riccardo Chailly). Soprano Christiane Karg features in Mahler’s Fourth Symphony (with Andris Nelsons). And how about a stunning programme of French Baroque arias?
The Essentials series introduces you to the masterpieces you want to have heard. In the coming season you can get to know iconic symphonies like Brahms’ Fourth, Shostakovich’s Tenth and Tchaikovsky’s enigmatic Sixth, as well as Mendelssohn’s beloved ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. Each concert kicks off with a playful introduction, and after the concert you can enjoy a chat and a drink in the Spiegelzaal.
In the 2025-26 season, many well-loved soloists will join us in the most wonderful concertos. Beatrice Rana will perform Beethoven, Yunchan Lim tackles Schumann, both Evgeny Kissin and Yuja Wang bite into Prokofjev. We play Korngold with Leonidas Kavakos, Tchaikovsky with Augustin Hadelich, a brand new recorder concerto with Lucie Horsch… and much, much more. Take your pick, and enjoy!
Some musicians like to step off the beaten track. You can see Barbara Hannigan conduct as well as hear her flawlessly clear soprano. With Lucie Horsch we’ll perform a brand new recorder concerto. Our principal trumpet Miro Petkov will play the solo part in Wynton Marsalis’ spectacular Trumpet Concerto. Join the adventure!
Share the magic of classical music with the children in your life! For children aged six and up, we present two enchanting concerts. Don Quixote is a hilarious tale of a wandering knight, loosely inspired by Richard Strauss. In the gripping Romeo and Juliet concert, young listeners discover the irresistible music of Tchaikovsky.
Our orchestra is full of exceptional musicians – and this season, several step into the spotlight as soloists. Concertmaster Vesko Eschkenazy shines in Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, while principal trumpet Miro Petkov takes on Wynton Marsalis’ spectacular Trumpet Concerto.
