The great symphonic repertoire

world-renowned conductors and soloists

B Series Thursday

B Series Thursday

The Concertgebouw Orchestra’s oldest series is a detailed cross section of the symphonic repertoire led by world-renowned conductors.

The B Series has been in existence since 1901. You can still enjoy the very best that symphonic music has to offer in this largest of all the Concertgebouw Orchestra’s series. In the coming season, for instance, honorary guest conductor Iván Fischer will be conducting music by his compatriot Béla Bartók and Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. You can also enjoy an all-Brahms programme conducted by Sir John Eliot Gardiner, when the orchestra shares the stage with the Monteverdi Choir. Works by Mahler featuring this season are the Fourth Symphony conducted by Teodor Currentzis and the Ninth with Daniel Harding. Riccardo Chailly, for his part, will be conducting works by Rachmaninoff.

World famous soloists including violinists Lisa Batiashvili and Janine Jansen and clarinettist Martin Fröst will all be taking to the stage.

Also included in this series are Mozart’s Requiem led by Klaus Mäkelä, an all Russian programme conducted by Valery Gergiev, works by Debussy, Ravel, Sibelius, Prokofiev, Weinberg and Glanert – there’s no end! It’s easy to see why the B Series has been the orchestra’s flagship subscription for over 120 years.
