About this concert
Concertgebouw Orchestra Young is the international youth orchestra catering for young people aged fourteen to eighteen who could use a little extra support. Since the first edition in 2019, Young has gained wide acclaim for its uniqueness and innovation: this summer project has turned out to be exactly what the music world needed. Held for the third time in August 2022, over seventy talented young people from every corner of Europe will be meeting up. After an intensive summer programme, they will be presenting themselves as a youth orchestra at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and the Konzerthaus Berlin.
Under the direction of Andrés Orozco-Estrada, they will be performing Tsjaikovski’s Romeo and Juliet, the Bruch Violin Concerto featuring violinist María Dueñas, a newly commissioned work by Carlijn Metselaar and Mussorgsky’s Paintings at an Exhibition. After the concerts, the young musicians, like those who participated the first three summers Young was held, will return to their home countries as active ambassadors for classical music. The very future of music is right here onstage. It promises to be a very special experience, both for the musicians themselves and for audiences.
