Born in 1993, Pedro Miguel Victorino Freire began his musical studies at the music school in Azeitão at the age of nine. In 2003, he was accepted to the Setúbal conservatory, where he studied trumpet with José Augusto Carneiro and Vítor Pereira.
He went on to continue his trumpet studies with Filipe Coelho at the Escola Profissional de Música da Metropolitana in Lisbon in 2010.
Freire is a former member of the Gulbenkian Orchestra Academy and has frequently performed with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, as well as with the Estágio Gulbenkian Orquestra, the Gulbenkian Orquestra, the Orquestra Clássica do Sul, Orquestra XXI, the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie and the Treppenhaus Orchester (Hanover).
He earned a bachelor’s degree studying with Jeroen Berwaerts at the University of Music, Drama and Media in Hanover. In 2015, he was awarded first prize and a Germany Scholarship from the Gundlach Stiftung. Thanks to the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now scholarship, he was given the opportunity to perform a series of solo concertos with piano accompaniment in 2016.
