Concerts
Fri, Oct 2, 2026
From 2 to 4 October, we swap our familiar stage at The Concertgebouw for Amsterdam’s largest concert venue, the Ziggo Dome. Over three evenings, we share our passion for classical music with people of all ages and backgrounds, including many who are hearing the orchestra live for the very first time. Audiences are treated to a wide-ranging programme, from the cinematic worlds of Joe Hisaishi to beloved classical favourites and a grand sing-along finale of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.

Uniquely Great opened on Friday with a sold-out celebration of the enchanting film music of Joe Hisaishi. Conducting the orchestra himself, he transported the audience to the worlds of Studio Ghibli and Takeshi Kitano. Hisaishi also took to the piano in several works, while the National Mixed Youth Choir, soprano Grace Davidson and mezzo-soprano Janet Todd added their impressive voices to the programme. Hisaishi returns on Sunday for the additional concert.

Saturday’s Classics Live brings together some of the best-loved works in the classical repertoire, culminating in Beethoven’s complete Ninth Symphony. In the monumental finale, the audience joins orchestra, choirs and soloists in a unique shared musical moment. The evening is presented by our energetic principal double bassist Dominic Seldis.
While The Concertgebouw naturally remains our unrivalled home, the orchestra is performing increasingly often beyond its walls, sharing our passion for classical music with as many people as possible. Following Opening Night in Amsterdam’s Oosterpark and Uniquely Great at the Ziggo Dome, the next stop is Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony during Amsterdam Dance Event. Later this season, the orchestra will also perform at Gashouder. Discover more concerts from unique locations.
