Miranda Nee
Miranda Nee began playing the violin at the age of seven. In Geneva, she studied with Dan Dery for eleven years. In 2017, she enrolled at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne to study under Mihaela Martin. Two years later she began her studies with Silvia Marcovici at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. An avid chamber musician, she received coaching from Stephan Goerner, Daniel Austrich and Claudia Micheletti.
Nee has performed in Switzerland, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Canada and the United States. From 2015 to 2018, she was an active member of the first violin section of the Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra. She took part in the Tibor Varga Sion Festival, the Festival del Lago, and Rencontres Musicales Internationales de Graves, attending masterclasses by Pavel Vernikov, Svetlana Makarova, Arabella Steinbacher, Grigory Kalinovsky, Takashi Shimizu and Sergey Ostrovsky. In 2017, she was a laureate of the Orchestre des Trois-Chêne concerto competition.
Miranda Nee is currently supported by a scholarship from Foundation Lyra. She plays a violin built around1680 by Jean Christophle d’Avignon with a bow by James Tubbs.
