Susanne Niesporek
Susanne Niesporek was born in Magdeburg, Germany. She started studying the violin at the age of six and was admitted to the preparatory course at the Franz Liszt Conservatory in Weimar at the age of ten. While a student of Jost Witter, she entered international competitions and participated in masterclasses with Oleg Kagan, Tibor Varga and Wolfgang Marschner.
In 1987 Susanne Niesporek joined the Gera Philharmonic Orchestra. In August 1989, she was appointed principal of the second violin section of the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra where she was later appointed first concertmaster. She joined the Concertgebouw Orchestra as assistant principal of the second violin section in September 1994.
An enthusiastic chamber musician, Susanne Niesporek is a member of both the Lobkowicz String Quartet and the Amsterdam-Berlin String Trio since 2015 together with her former Concertgebouw Orchestra-colleague, violist Eric van der Wel. In the past, she has been a member of duo Madrigale, the Philadelphus Ensemble, the Margiono Quintet and the Valerius Ensemble.
One of her passions is teaching. She was actively involved in founding the Academy of the Concertgebouworkest and helped develop a curriculum for string players in the Netherlands.
