Jonathon Heyward

Originally trained as a cellist, Jonathon Heyward completed his studies in conducting with Sian Edwards at the Royal Academy of Music in 2016.

Winner of the 2015 Besançon International Conducting Competition, Heyward is forging a career as one of the most exciting young conductors on the international scene. He has led the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Hallé Orchestra, St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre National de Lille.

Equally at home on the opera stage, the American conductor recently made his Royal Opera House debut with Hannah Kendall’s Knife of Dawn.

In the 2021/2022 season, he appears with the Concertgebouworkestfor the first time.
