Join us as the sensational conductor Rafael Payare from Venezuela makes his debut with our orchestra! On 18, 19 and 20 February, he will conduct a programme centred on Shostakovich's Tenth Symphony. In an interview with Preludium, he talks about his musical journey.

Our honorary guest conductor Iván Fischer, turned 75 last January and will receive the Concertgebouw Prize in March. In the coming months, he will be at the helm of the Concertgebouw Orchestra several times, with repertoire ranging from Beethoven to Bernstein.

Last week, six members of the Academy of the Concertgebouw Orchestra visited the Visio school. Together with pupils, they made music, composed new works and concluded with a performance. This allowed them to experience what it is like to take music beyond the stage as an orchestral musician.

It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the passing of our colleague, pianist Jeroen Bal, on 25 January 2026. He had been seriously ill for some time. Jeroen was a very committed, beloved and valued member of our orchestra. We will greatly miss his presence, his musicianship, and his warmth. Our thoughts are with his wife and children, and with all those who held him dear.
