The process of recruiting Mr Raes’s successor is proceeding as planned, but the Concertgebouworkest does not expect a newly appointed Managing Director to take up the position before the summer of 2020.

Born in Amsterdam in 1964, Mr Bazen studied economic and social history and Italian language and literature at the University of Amsterdam. From 1992 to 1999, he worked in marketing and public relations for the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, and was appointed Head of Marketing/Business Manager of the Concertgebouworkest in March 1999. Mr Bazen has served as Director of Business and Media and as a member of the Concertgebouworkest’s management team since 2011.
