Award winning mezzo-soprano Judit Kutasi

Born in the Romanian city of Timișoara, mezzo-soprano Judit Kutasi is now a resident of Germany. She studied at the University of Oradea and the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in her native Romania, and has participated in masterclasses with Fabio Luisi, Brigitte Fassbaender and Ann Murray.

Kutasi has won prizes at a number of competitions, including the 2012 Vox Artis International Music Competition.

Debut with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra

Her operatic repertoire includes Ulrica in Un ballo in maschera and Maddalena in Rigoletto (both by Verdi), Erda in Wagner’s Siegfried and Carmen in Bizet’s opera of the same name. She has made solo appearances at the Zurich Opera (where she was a permanent member of the ensemble for several years), the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Royal Opera in Stockholm, the Teatro Massimo in Palermo and the Teatro Municipal in Santiago. On the concert stage, she has collaborated with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of James Gaffigan and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Daniel Harding.

Kutasi will be making her first appearance with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in the 2018–19 season.
