Sasha Witteveen

Sasha Witteveen (2003) is studying with Olivier Thiery at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. She took part in masterclasses and lessons from musicians such as Rick Stotijn, Božo Paradžik, Matthew McDonald, Wies de Boevé, Gary Karr and Ximo Riera.

As a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra, she performed under the baton of such conductors as Vasily Petrenko and Iván Fischer. She took part in the academies of both the Budapest Festival Orchestra (in the 2021-22 season) and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, and has been a member of the LGT Young Soloists since 2018.

Sasha Witteveen has given solo recitals at The Concertgebouw and the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam, TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht and the Musikverein in Vienna, and performed at festivals such as the DutchDoubleBassFestival, the International Chamber Music Festival Schiermonnikoog, the Grachtenfestival Amsterdam, and Stift International Music Festival. She also enjoys performing as a soloist with orchestras and ensembles. Witteveen won first prizes in competitions such as the International Youth Bass Competition in Lucca, the Britten Double Bass Competition, the Prinses Christina Concours and the Viennese Bass Days Competition.
