Unique every time

On 7 November 2025, Decca Classics will release the live recording of Mahler's Symphony No. 8, performed by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra under Klaus Mäkelä during the 2025 Mahler Festival in Amsterdam. The recording, captured live in May 2025, will be available digitally worldwide, and issued as a physical CD in Japan and Korea to coincide with the orchestra's first Asia tour with Mäkelä.

The Concertgebouw Orchestra congratulates Aurel Dawidiuk on his appointment as General Music Director of Bochumer Symphoniker and Intendant of Anneliese Brost Musikforum Ruhr in Germany, starting from the 2026-27 season.

This month, we perform with Lucie Horsch in the brand-new recorder concerto Vents et Lyres by Lotta Wennäkoski, written especially for her. In it, Horsch plays five different recorders – and sings. Music has always played a central role in her life: “Once I have a recorder in my hands, everything just falls into place.”

On 25 September the orchestra conducted by Aurel Dawidiuk performed Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf with actress Diewertje Dir as narrator for patients and staff of the Princess Máxima Centre for Paediatric Oncology in Utrecht.

Barbara Hannigan made her conducting debut with the Concertgebouw Orchestra in December 2022. She’s coming back on 2 and 3 October with a programme in which she sings and conducts, sometimes doing both at the same time.

On Thursday 21 August, we left for Salzburg for the kickoff of our European summer tour. The next day, we gave a concert in Cologne, and on Saturday, we continued on to Londonfor two performances in the legendary Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Proms.
