Concerts for live audiences to resume, but with restrictions

At the press conference held on 25 January, it was announced, as we had all hoped, that the orchestra may now once again perform for live audiences. Naturally, we are delighted with this turn of events. Restrictions do apply, however: concert halls must close at 10.00 p.m., and audience members must be seated 1.5 m apart. Fortunately, this means there are more options, but not everything is possible.

Thursday, 27 January at 7.30 p.m. – Film music from Vertigo, Star Wars and E.T.
Before the press conference, we had planned to share exclusively online the concert programme featuring iconic film music conducted by Stéphane Denève. This concert, given as part of Made in America, can now go ahead with a live audience in attendance on Thursday evening. Please see here for more information and ticket sales.

Modified Concertgebouw Orchestra concerts at the Concertgebouw up to and including 17 February
Despite the easing of restrictions, concerts cannot yet go ahead exactly as planned. Much to our regret, we can welcome only some of our current ticket buyers, since audience members must be seated 1.5 m apart.

Cancellation and ticket resale
Unfortunately, we are not in a position in such a short space of time to scale back concerts at the Concertgebouw with 2,000 assigned seats to concerts with no assigned seating and accommodating a maximum of 425 audience members spaced 1.5 m apart. For this reason, we have had to make the decision to cancel all tickets to the originally scheduled concerts up to and including 17 February. Tickets to the concerts will go on sale again with limited capacity starting from Friday, 28 January at 10.00 a.m.

Those having purchased tickets to the original concerts will be given priority when ordering tickets to the modified concerts and may place their orders starting from Thursday, 27 January at 10.00 a.m. Naturally, we will be notifying them as quickly as possible about how to proceed with their tickets.

Dates of the modified concerts:
PLEASE NOTE: start times have changed. These concerts now start at 7.30 p.m.

Concerts with Damon Albarn at the Gashouder – Symphonic Loops
Fortunately, the concerts at the Gashouder on 11 and 12 February can go ahead for all those having purchased tickets. Only the start time has changed to 8.00 p.m. This concert was planned taking into account the fact that those present must be seated 1.5 m apart.
PLEASE NOTE: start times have changed. Our concerts in the Gashouder now start at 8.00 p.m.

The following measures will be enforced at all concerts:
  • concertgoers must present a COVID certificate,
  • maintain a distance of 1.5 m from one another and
  • wear a mask when moving about inside the Concertgebouw.
